The Royal Commonwealth Society is very happy to announce the theme for The
Queen’s Commonwealth Article Competition 2019 - A Connected
Commonwealth.
Building on the 2018 theme of Towards a Common Future, this
year’s topics ask young writers to explore the shared ideals, interests and
encounters across the networking, and exactly how they may use this to make
positive change. It phone calls on teenagers to consider the potential of the
Commonwealth in conditioning the solid and diverse links between
residents.
For 2019, you want to hear from all teenagers, no matter
schooling, education or region. All tales and voices are essential.
Your
competition is available to all citizens and residents of the Commonwealth aged
18 and under and runs from Mon 5 November until 1 June 2019. All entrants get a
Certificate of Involvement and one Champion and Runner-up from the Senior and
Junior categories will earn a vacation to London for weekly of educational and
social events.

Judges described entries to your competition in 2018 as
‘‘fantastically imaginative’, ‘hopeful’, ‘quite exceptional’ and ‘passionate’.
We expect a likewise high calibre of writing for
2019.
Guideline:
Entries will be disqualified if indeed they
neglect to meet the following requirements:
Your competition is available
to nationals or residents of most Commonwealth countries and territories, as
well as residents of the Maldives and Zimbabwe. Residents of non-Commonwealth
countries whose entries are posted through their local RCS branch are also
qualified.
Entrants must decide on a Senior or Junior subject depending on
the age group on 1st June 2019. Older entrants must be given birth to between
2nd June 2000 and 1st June 2005 (14-18) and Junior entrants must be created
after 2 June 2005 (under 14 years).
The utmost word counts are 1,500 words
for Senior entries and 750 words for Junior entries. These term limits connect
with all topics and everything formats (article, poem, notice, etc). Exceeding
the term count will lead to automatic disqualification.
Entries must be
written in British.
Only 1 entry per participant is allowed. Once an article
is posted, students/teachers won't have the chance to revise it. Please
carefully check and improve your writing before submitting the ultimate
duplicate, and also ensure that supplementary information is packed in properly
(name, contact details, subject quantity, etc.)
Plagiarism is not accepted in
your competition. Every year lots of students are disqualified because they're
suspected of plagiarism.
Timeline:
All online entries must be
submitted before midnight (GMT) on 1st June 2019; any offline entries must reach
RCS London by 1st May 2019

How exactly to Submit:
Offline submissions are
extremely difficult to process and often means that your access arrives
following the Competition shutting date. We is only going to accept an offline
admittance where in fact the person submitting does not have any usage of
internet and struggles to submit online.
If you're submitting your
entrance by post, please complete an access form in stop capitals and attach it
to leading of your article. Entries should be delivered to your nearest postal
hub, information on which are the following.
Please be aware that for
postal entries, your article must be received by 1 May 2019 to become eligible.
We therefore claim that you send your article with the required time for
delivery, as essays received with a postal hub after 1 May will never be
considered in your competition.
